1961 Map of Elkhorn Point

About this map

The North Platte River snakes through the Medicine Bow National Forest in this early 1960s study of the Wyoming-Colorado border. This high-altitude landscape is defined by the intersection of water rights and mountain ranching, illustrated by the presence of the Henry Ditch and the Big Creek Ranch near the western edge. The drainage network of Sixmile Creek and Fivemile Creek feeds into the main river channel, which flows through a canyon between Deerhorn Point and Elkhorn Point.
