About this map

Fern Ridge Lake dominates the eastern half of this landscape, created by the impoundment of the Long Tom River and its various tributaries like Inman Creek and Coyote Creek. The surrounding area is a transition from the level floor of the Willamette Valley into the foothills of the Coast Range, where the Siuslaw River and S Fk Alsea River begin their westward course. The transportation network is defined by the Southern Pacific Railroad, which connects the timber and agricultural communities of Veneta, Elmira, and Noti.
