The map reveals the early industrial and social geography of the region, noting vanished hamlets and crossroads like Chiselville, Barnumville, and Beartown.

High-altitude features such as Mother Myrick Mtn and Equinox Mtn loom over the valley, while the eastern portion of the sheet transitions into the high marshlands of Lye Brook Meadows and numerous mountain ponds like Bourn Pond. This 1894 survey, reprinted later, preserves the layout of mountain roads and the early footprints of villages like Manchester Center and West Rupert before modern development shifted the character of these Vermont townships.
