Horse Cr and several saline tributaries dominate the landscape of the Texas Panhandle along the border of Collingsworth and Childress counties. This arid terrain is defined by a complex network of ephemeral drainages, including Wet Salt Cr, Salt Cr, and Dry Salt Cr, which carve through the plains. The presence of these named salt creeks indicates the mineral-rich hydrology typical of this portion of the Rolling Plains. Human activity is minimal across these segments of the high plains, primarily represented by the linear path of Co Rd 7 and a few secondary routes that cross the undulating topography between the creek beds.
