Crow Creek winds through the valley floor of the Cumberland Plateau, defining a landscape marked by deep hollows and family-named landmarks. The terrain transitions from high points like Round Mountain and High Point into intricate coves such as Bennett Cove and Gibson Cove. Settlement patterns follow the lowlands, with the communities of Gonce, Pleasant Grove, and Rash situated along the primary valley roads. Genealogists will find a high density of family cemeteries including Gonce Cemetery, Allison Cemetery, and Jacoway Cemetery, which are often located near the base of the surrounding ridges. The southern portion of the area, near the settlement of Allison, is defined by the convergence of Little Coon Creek and Big Coon Creek, where small farmsteads and rural routes like Co RD 53 trace the creek beds.
