The Manti-LaSal National Forest high country atop the Wasatch Plateau is defined by a network of high-elevation reservoirs and dramatic ridgelines. Water management for the surrounding valleys is evident through several major impoundments, including Ferron Reservoir, Duck Fork Reservoir, and the smaller Jet Fox Reservoir. The terrain transitions from prominent peaks like Petty Peak and High Top to expansive high-altitude meadows such as McEwan Flat and Twelvemile Flat.
