Mount Hood National Forest anchors the northern portion of this landscape, where the high terrain of the Laughlin Hills transitions toward the high desert plateau. A network of Forest Service and reservation roads, including Reservation Rd and Kelly Gulch Rd, provides access across the drainage of Coyote Cr and through the distinctive Sunflower Flat. The geography is defined by prominent high points such as Foreman Point, Quartz Butte, and the striking Simnasho Butte at the southern edge.
