Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument occupies a prominent position on this 2017 survey, preserving the archaeological remains of the ancient Tompiro and Jumano pueblo communities. Situated near the small settlement of Gran Quivira, the landscape is defined by the high limestone escarpment of Mesa de los Jumanos and the broad expanses of Liberty Valley. The topographical details reveal a series of dry basins and drainages, including North Canyon and South Canyon, which transition into open plains like Gooch Flats and Atkinson Flats.
