About this map

The Cowpasture River and Calfpasture River define the eastern and western reaches of this mountain landscape during the late 1960s. Much of the central terrain is protected within the George Washington National Forest, where steep ridges like Chestnut Ridge and Sideling Mountain separate narrow valleys and drafts. Smaller settlements and family landmarks are concentrated along the watercourses, including Armstrong and Green Valley, which are anchored by local congregations at Cloverdale Ch and Green Valley Ch.
