1893 Map of Guilford

USGS Topo · Published 1913

About this map

The Shore Line Division connects the coastal villages of Guilford, Madison, and Clinton during a period of established maritime and rail commerce. Inland, the landscape rises toward the trap rock ridges of Totoket Mountain and Pistapaug Mountain, with smaller farming communities like Rockland and Little City scattered among the high hills. This late-nineteenth-century survey captures the region's complex water network, from the wide Connecticut River at Haddam to the Hammonasset River winding down to the sound.
