Hammon sits at the confluence of the Washita River and White Shield Creek, serving as a central hub for this portion of western Oklahoma. The landscape is deeply carved by numerous drainages, including Quartermaster Creek, Hay Creek, and Ninemile Creek, which feed into the primary river valley. Human activity is defined by a dense network of energy infrastructure, evidenced by the numerous Gas Wells scattered across the uplands, and the presence of a pipeline cutting across the northwestern sections. Evidence of past transportation routes is visible south of the river, where an Old RR Grade runs parallel to the waterway. Near the center of the survey area, the Barker Cem remains as a local landmark, while the local economy is further represented by a Sand and Gravel Pit near the eastern border of the quadrangle.
