The Arctic coastal plain of the North Slope, Alaska, is defined here by its intricate network of lakes, thermokarst ponds, and meandering waterways. The Ublutuoch River threads through the eastern half of the map, carving a winding path through the permafrost-rich terrain. To the northwest, the map captures a portion of Judy Creek as it curves through the low-lying landscape. This 2013 survey illustrates the complex hydrography of the region, where the flat topography leads to highly irregular drainage patterns and a surface dominated by water. The land is organized by the Public Land Survey System, showing the junction of T 10 N and T 9 N, as well as the transition between R 1 E and R 2 E, providing a precise grid for an otherwise featureless wilderness.
