Joshua Tree National Park occupies the northern reaches of this survey, where the Eagle Mountains transition into the broad desert expanse of the Chuckwalla Valley. The landscape is defined by its critical water infrastructure and natural desert seeps, most notably the Colorado River Aqueduct which traverses the center of the sheet. To the south, the terrain rises sharply into the Orocopia Mountains and the Chuckwalla Mountains, separated by the drainage of Red Cloud Wash.
