The Washita River meanders across the northern portion of this landscape on the border of Roger Mills and Beckham counties. This 1990s revision reflects a region heavily defined by energy extraction and conservation, with the Kiowa Gas Field and Berlin Gas Field marked by numerous Gas Wells and pipeline networks. To the west, the Black Kettle National Grassland provides a distinct contrast to the surrounding section-line roads and agricultural land.
