The Highwood Mountains dominate this central Montana landscape at the convergence of Cascade, Chouteau, and Judith Basin counties. Significant peaks such as Highwood Baldy and Pinewood Peak anchor the high country within the Lewis & Clark National Forest, while the surrounding terrain is deeply incised by a network of drainage coulees including Wildcat Coulee and Grouse Coulee.
