Evidence of resource exploration appears in the form of isolated Prospect sites, several Prospects, and an Adit located near the northern edge of the cliffs. The terrain is organized into broad, flat-topped expanses such as Silver Falls Bench, Glen Bench, and Fourmile Bench, while the Purple Hills provide a localized topographic variation. This area represents a transition between protected wilderness and managed recreational lands during the late twentieth century.
