The Prairie Dog Town Fork Red River carves through this landscape on the boundary of Briscoe and Hall counties, where the high plains of the Texas Panhandle drop into the complex breaks of Palo Duro Canyon. The western portion of the map is dominated by the level expanse of Antelope Flats, a region marked by vital water infrastructure for cattle ranching such as Antelope Tank and numerous wells along Antelope Creek.

To the east, the terrain fractures into a series of deep drainages including Hughes Canyon and Dogie Canyon. This area illustrates the transition from flat upland grazing to the deep-cut river valleys of the Little Red River. Small named locations like Cushing and various livestock watering points, including Harness Tanks and Wildcat Tanks, indicate the dispersed settlement and land use patterns of the mid-1980s cattle industry in this corner of the Panhandle.
