Boys Town and the expanding western fringes of Omaha define this mid-century landscape, where rural Nebraska section lines meet the post-war growth of Douglas County. The Chicago and North Western railroad cuts diagonally across the terrain, passing through the village of Irvington and near the Omaha Air Force Station. Significant social and community landmarks are scattered throughout, including the St. James Orphanage, Mt Hope Cemetery, and St Timothy Church.

Drainage is dominated by the winding paths of Little Papillion Creek and Big Papillion Creek. Residential development is visible in the suburban layouts of Benson and McArdle, while older educational sites like School No 52 and School No 56 remain as markers of the area's transition from school districts to an integrated city grid. Revisions on the sheet track the rapid urbanization through the 1970s, as traditional farmland gives way to planned subdivisions and public facilities.
