Kensington Mine Road and Jualin Mine Road cut through the steep, forested slopes of the Tongass National Forest, providing critical overland access to industrial sites along the eastern shore of Lynn Canal. This 2017 survey shows the intersection of the Haines and Juneau Borough boundaries in a region defined by dramatic maritime topography. Significant coastal landmarks such as Point Sherman and Sherman Rock overlook the canal, while the landscape further south transitions toward the sheltered waters of Berners Bay at Cove Point. The inland terrain is marked by high-elevation drainages like Snowslide Gulch and a series of creeks, including Sherman Cr and Slate Cr, which flow from the interior mountains down to the rugged Alaskan coastline.
