Old Fort Reno (Site) marks a point of historical significance in the southwest corner of this mid-1960s landscape, situated near Reno Creek and the Moore Ranch. The area is characterized by the wide, winding course of Tonto Creek as it passes through the Tonto Basin, flanked by the steep rising elevations of the Sierra Ancha range to the east. Numerous prehistoric or early settler Ruins are documented across the terrain, particularly near Kayler Butte and along the various washes that feed into the main valley.
