The Kurupa River defines the drainage of this interior Arctic landscape, winding through the western portion of the quadrangle. Flowing generally north from the high Brooks Range foothills, the river is joined by Outwash Creek, which cuts through the glacial deposits and alluvial fans characteristic of the North Slope's mountain-front topography. This 2016 survey provides an exceptionally high-resolution 1:25,000 scale view of the landforms within the public land survey system blocks of t8s r13w, t9s r13w, and surrounding townships. The intricate contour work illustrates the complex braided stream patterns and the erosion of the ancient sediment benches that shape this remote corner of Alaska.
