Fredericksburg anchor the northern reaches of this Hill Country landscape, where the Gillespie County Airport and the expansive Lady Bird Johnson Park border the southern edge of the city. The Pedernales River meanders across the central portion of the sheet, joined by various tributaries including Wolf Creek and Live Oak Creek. The terrain transitions from the alluvial bottomlands of Mesquite Flat into the dissected uplands of the southwest, marked by a dense network of ranch roads and rural lanes such as Kneese Parrish Road and Morris Ranch Road.
