Lake Albert dominates the southern portion of this high plains landscape on the border of Cheyenne County and Kiowa County. The terrain is defined by the ephemeral drainage patterns of the White Woman Cr and its secondary branch, the S Fork White Woman Cr. This 2016 survey illustrates a strictly organized section-line road network, where routes like Co Rd Aa and Co Rd 71 carve the prairie into precise geometric grids. The vast, open character of the region is punctuated only by these unpaved corridors and the seasonal wetlands of the lake bed, reflecting the remote agricultural and ranching environment of eastern Colorado in the early twenty-first century.
