2020 Map of Latah

About this map

Hangman Creek and its various tributaries, including Spring Valley Cr and Cove Cr, carve through this section of the Palouse along the Spokane and Whitman County border. The settlement of Latah sits in the southeast corner, defined by a grid of streets including N Main St and E Mill St, while Waverly occupies the northwest near the winding course of the creek. This modern topographic study reveals a landscape dominated by agricultural divisions and rural road networks, such as S Palouse Hwy and E Spangle Waverly Rd. Numerous family and community burial sites are preserved across the area, including Evergreen Cem and Rosewood Cem. To the east, the terrain rises toward Gelbert Mtn, offering a sharp contrast to the creek valleys that shelter small rail-era hamlets like Rahm and West Fairfield.
