Laurel Lake and the surrounding borderlands of Susquehanna County and Broome County are defined by a high concentration of glacial water bodies and small rural crossroads. The landscape is interconnected by a network of local roads such as Arrowhead Lake Rd and Woodland Rd, which serve scattered residential clusters and lakeside communities. In the southern portion of the quadrangle, Forest Lake and Silver Lake provide significant geographic anchors near the village of Saint Joseph.
