Sardis Lake dominates the southern half of this landscape, its expansive waters and intricate shoreline reaching north toward the Marshall and Lafayette county line. The terrain transitions from these low-lying wetlands and points like Piney Point into a series of ridges and creek valleys, including Blackwater Cr and Newsom Cr. Settlement is concentrated around the small village of Laws Hill in the north and the outskirts of Abbeville in the southeast.
