About this map

Le Roy serves as the primary southern anchor of this southern Iowa landscape, situated where Co Hwy-R69 meets Co Hwy-J16. The terrain is defined by an intricate network of waterways, most notably the meandering Chariton River and its various tributaries like Chariton Cr and Brush Cr. Small, rural settlements such as Smyrna and the uniquely named Last Chance are linked by a grid of county roads and the historically suggestive Morman Trl. To the southeast, the Humeston Reservoir and Hamilton Cr provide significant water features in an area otherwise dominated by agricultural sections. The northern reaches of the quadrangle are drained by the branching systems of White Breast Cr and S White Breast Cr, illustrating the watershed divide that characterizes this part of Decatur County.
