Leavry Canyon and the surrounding high desert of Rio Arriba County are defined by a complex system of drainage and ephemeral water sources. The landscape is marked by substantial elevation changes, ranging from the depths of Chico Canyon to the prominent Tapicito Ridge that divides the southern portion of the sheet. Modern infrastructure is limited to a few arterial routes like Co Rd 402 and Pounds Mill Rd, which provide access to this isolated terrain.
