The Ohio River carves a significant boundary through this landscape, separating Spencer County, Indiana, from Hancock County, Kentucky. On the Kentucky shore, the town of Lewisport serves as a focal point, its grid extending toward the water near Corn Island. The river plain is marked by complex hydrography, including the Big Slough and the winding course of Blackford Creek, which meanders through the southern portion of the map.
