1916 Map of Liberty

About this map

St George Lake and the village of Liberty form the heart of this Maine landscape, where the headwaters of the Sheepscot River and Medomak River begin their descent toward the coast. The mapping documents a network of rural schoolhouses and family-named crossroads, such as Barlow School and McFarlands Corner, which served the scattered agricultural communities of the early twentieth century. Of particular interest is the presence of Hibberts Gore, a rare unincorporated territory between Palermo and Washington.
