Little Clayhole Valley and Antelope Valley characterize this high desert landscape in Mohave County, where the management of water is the primary human imprint on the terrain. The drainage of Clayhole Wash and its tributary, Little Clayhole Wash, support a network of ranching infrastructure including the Upper Clayhole Reservoirs and the Little Clayhole Reservoir. The reliance on these man-made catchments is evident in the naming of features such as Cement Dam Reservoir and Big Dike Reservoir, which serve as vital water sources for local agriculture and livestock. In the southern reaches, the geography becomes more varied with the rise of the Seven Knolls Bench and the prominent formation known as The Black Rocks. Remote transport is facilitated by Co HWY 5, which bisects the valley, connecting these isolated water points like Cattle Guard Pond and Road Reservoir.
