Toiyabe Range foothills meet the broad expanse of Grass Valley in this remote section of Lander County. The landscape is defined by its arid hydrology, where the intermittent Dry Canyon Wash drains toward the valley floor. Geothermal activity is a central characteristic of the area, anchored by Hot Springs Point and several named water sources including Hot Springs and Little Hot Springs near the eastern boundary. These features suggest a landscape where water and heat have long dictated the movement and settlement of people in the Great Basin. Toward the center of the sheet, Crow Spring sits at the base of the mountains, marking one of the few named landmarks in an area dominated by township and range surveying lines and high-desert terrain.
