Livengood serves as the central hub of this interior Alaska landscape, situated where Livengood Road meets the valley floor. The settlement is defined by its placement between the high ground of Livengood Dome to the northwest and Amy Dome to the south. The drainage pattern revealed here is dense with gold-mining history, as evidenced by the numerous named gulches and creeks that feed into the larger water systems. To the north, Helen Gulch and Snow Gulch descend toward the valley, while May Gulch and Glen Gulch flank the main settlement area.
