Loco Mountain rises above a landscape defined by deep drainages and high plateaus in this survey of Catron County, New Mexico. The area is heavily marked by the water management of the Gila National Forest, including numerous tanks such as Elladene Tank, Gail Tank, and Juniper Tank. Recreations and resource management are centered around Snow Lake, where a Boat Ramp and Gaging Station are located.

The southern portion of the map transitions into the Gila Wilderness and Reserve Wilderness, split by the Reserve Wilderness Ranger District. Significant terrain features like Iron Creek Mesa and Aeroplane Mesa dominate the topography, while the Middle Fork Gila River carves through the southern canyons. Evidence of local infrastructure is seen in the Pipeline crossing T Bar Ridge and the Loco Mountain Road leading to the Aeroplane Mesa Campground.
