Lonepine anchors this portion of Sanders County, situated within a landscape defined by the agricultural engineering of the Camas Canal system. The community is positioned east of the rugged transitions into the Lolo National Forest, where the terrain rises sharply from the valley floor. Water management is a primary theme of the area, evidenced by the Dry Fork Reservoir and the Camas A Canal which divert flows to support the surrounding ranchlands and farms.
