About this map

The Klamath National Wildlife Refuge and Lower Klamath NWR dominate the southern portion of this landscape, where the state line between Oregon and California bisects a complex network of dikes and levees. The namesake Lost River meanders through the central valley, flanked by the prominent Stukel Mountain and the Klamath Hills. This mid-1980s survey illustrates a region defined by large-scale irrigation and agriculture, evidenced by numerous pump stations, the Long Ranch Landing Strip, and Grain Elevators located near the small settlement of Lost River.
