The Red River marks a sharp geographic and political boundary in this portion of Southwest Oklahoma, defining the Oklahoma Texas border along an Indefinite Boundary. The landscape is dominated by the broad, low-lying Star Valley and the winding course of Sandy Creek, which cuts through the agricultural terrain. Small rural communities and homesteads are scattered throughout the region, anchored by local centers of faith and memory such as Martin Ch and Corinth Ch.

Evidence of the local economy is seen in the numerous pipelines and oil or water wells that dot the survey, alongside a Gravel Pit near the Martin area. The transition between Harmon and Jackson counties occurs just north of the Base Line, where a Roadside Park sits near the small settlement of Corinth. This map preserves the 1980s layout of a classic Red River valley ranching and resource-extraction district.
