About this map

The Silver Island Mountains and the northern edge of Crater Island anchor this arid landscape within the Great Salt Lake Desert. The terrain is characterized by the expansive Mud Flat, a feature that dominates the central and southern portions of the sheet. This environment shows sparse but critical water resources, including several Springs and a Flowing Well in the northern sections, which likely served as vital points for early travelers and livestock. Evidence of subsurface exploration is found in several scattered Drill Hole locations across the flats. In the south, the seasonally active Miry Wash cuts toward the mountains, while the Little Pigeon Mts rise to the northwest. This orthophotomosaic provides a clear view of the natural drainage patterns and topographical transitions between the high peaks and the salt-encrusted basins.
