1966 Map of Lynch Station

USGS Topo · Published 1972

About this map

Lynch Station and Evington anchor this topographic study of central Virginia, where the Southern railway corridors parallel the winding course of the Big Otter River. The landscape is defined by its rural religious infrastructure, with numerous country sanctuaries such as Bethlehem Ch, Mt Pisgah Ch, and Mt Hermon Ch distributed across the ridges. Near the Roanoke River at the southern edge, the terrain shifts from the prominent heights of Johnson Mountain and Scott Mtn to the alluvial bottoms of Plum Tree Branch and Bishop Creek. This 1966 survey, updated with 1972 revisions, reveals evidence of earlier industry through small Mines and a Mine located in the uplands, alongside technical infrastructure like the Radio Tower (WLVA) and a Gaging Sta along the riverbank.
