Sierra Madre Mountains define the high country of this interior section of the Los Padres National Forest. The landscape is dominated by a complex network of drainages and ridges, centered on the N Fork La Brea Cr and S Fork La Brea Cr. This 2015 survey reveals a terrain defined by named canyons, including the uniquely designated Script Canyon Number One and Script Canyon Number Two. To the north, Buckhorn Ridge stands near Horseshoe Spring, while Manzanita Mtn rises above Rattlesnake Canyon in the south. The absence of developed townsites or major roads—with only primitive routes like Forest Rte 11N04 present—highlights the preserved wilderness character of this part of Santa Barbara County.
