The settlement of Johnswood and the jagged eastern coastline of Drummond Island dominate this 2023 survey of Chippewa County. The landscape is a complex network of wetlands and inland water bodies, including Dickenson Lake, Bass Lake, and Dry Lake, separated by timbered reaches and the Potagannissing River. Toward the south, the terrain breaks into the waters of Lake Huron at Scammon Cove and Big Shoal Cove, with Scammon Point marking a prominent reach into the bay.
