Lake Gogebic dominates this part of the Ottawa National Forest, where the western shoreline is defined by numerous inlets including Pabst Bay, Little Bear Bay, and Big Bear Bay. The landscape is heavily dissected by watercourses flowing toward the lake, creating several notable vertical drops such as Marshall Falls, Nelson Canyon Falls, and Judson Falls. These cascades illustrate the sharp elevation changes common along the southern reaches of the lake basin.
