Lake Gogebic dominates this western Upper Peninsula landscape, its eastern shoreline defined by a series of distinct points and bays including Montgomery Point and Ice House Bay. Within the Ottawa National Forest, the terrain is marked by sharp topographic features like Alligator Eye and a network of waterways that feed the lake, such as Marshall Creek and Hendrick Creek. To the south, the landscape becomes increasingly dramatic where Nelson Canyon Falls and Judson Falls drop along the river near the small settlement of Nelson.
