About this map

The Fourche La Fave River snakes through the northern lowlands of this central Arkansas landscape, where the C R I & P RR rail line connects the settlement of Bigelow to the wider region. In the south, the Maumelle River feeds into the northern reaches of Lake Maumelle, a reservoir that redefined the local geography in the mid-20th century. Between these two river systems, the terrain rises sharply into the ridgelines of Wye Mountain and Holliday Mountain, creating a natural barrier between the small rural communities.
