The high peaks of the Saint Elias Mountains dominate this 2017 survey of the remote Alaska-Canada borderlands. Anchored by the towering massif of Mt Bear, the terrain is defined by extreme elevations and ice, including the Chitina Glacier flowing through the southern portion of the quadrangle. Most of the area is preserved within the Wrangell-Saint Elias National Park, representing one of the most protected wilderness landscapes in North America. The map also traces the international boundary line at United States of America / Canada, where the Alaska Valdez-Cordova Census Area meets its eastern neighbor. This document captures the state of these massive glacial systems and high-altitude topography in the early 21st century.
