Mt Bear dominates the high-altitude topography of this quadrangle, situated within the massive ice-fields and peaks of the Saint Elias Mountains. This protected landscape is part of the Wrangell-Saint Elias National Park and the adjacent Wrangell-St. Elias Wilderness, representing some of the most remote and high-elevation terrain in the Alaska-Yukon border region. The hydrography is defined by perennial ice, notably the Klutlan Glacier which flows through the eastern portion of the sheet. The survey focuses on these natural features, as there are no roads, settlements, or structures within this section of the Copper River Census Area. The map also delineates the eastern boundary where this wilderness meets the United States of America border.
