The Wrangell Mountains dominate this high-altitude landscape within the Wrangell-Saint Elias National Park, where the glacial runoff feeds a complex network of northern waterways. The drainage patterns are defined by the Kotsina River and the Kuskulana River, both of which are fed by significant ice features including the Nabesna Glacier and Kuskulana Glacier. In the northern reach of the survey, the Wrangell-St. Elias Wilderness encompasses the higher elevations, where steep terrain drops into Shower Gulch.
