The Carson National Forest landscape across north-central New Mexico is defined by the high-elevation reach of the Tusas Mountains. This 2023 survey documents the drainage patterns and water management systems essential to this arid mountain environment, centered on Mogote Peak and the prominent Mogote Ridge. The terrain is marked by a complex network of canyons, including Montoya Canyon and Sanchez Canyon, alongside numerous man-made water catchments such as Montoya Tank and Canevas Tank.
