The Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area dominates this portion of Lyon County and Trigg County, showcasing a landscape defined by the impoundment of the Cumberland and Tennessee Rivers. The peninsula is bordered by the expansive waters of Lake Barkley to the east and a sliver of Kentucky Lake to the southwest. The terrain is marked by numerous named inlets such as Mammoth Furnace Bay, Cravens Bay, and Molloy Bay, which reach into a network of hollows including Curry Hollow and Racetrack Hollow.
