Moorefield and the northern edge of Curtis anchor this study of the Loess Canyons landscape along the Lincoln and Frontier county line. The terrain is defined by deep, eroded drainages such as Curtis Creek Canyon and Deer Creek Canyon that carve through the high plains. Water management is a primary feature of the local geography, visible in the series of containment structures including Elson Reservoir Number 1-S and the Medicine Cr Reservoir 200.
